Military Bread Program - Hampton Roads

I want to alert all Hampton Roads military personnel and dependents to the Armed Service YMCA Bread Program available in this area! The program is free to all military (show ID).

All you have to do is show up at the week's location at 10am (see links below), stand in line a little bit, and fill two regular-sized grocery bags with bread and baked goods! You pay nothing out of pocket. The bread is a mix of brands and types including white bread, whole wheat, high-fiber, low-fat, bagels, english muffins, and baked goods. This is bread that has a close or just passed (meaning the day before) sell-by date, not expiration.

The best part: once everyone in line has had a chance to go through, you are allowed to go through AGAIN! Plus, sometimes there are a limited quantity of baked goodies, and if you are one of the first people in line, you get one free baked good. Past goodies included: coconut cream pie, coffee cake, and donuts.

So...here is the link to the Armed Services YMCA website.
Here is the link to the Winter 2009 schedule.

Maybe I'll see you this Wednesday at Fort Story Youth Services!
